Hauora Programmes

Health & well-being programmes to enhance whānau health

Improving Māori Health

Whanake Rangitāne o Manawatū Trust delivers kaupapa Māori hauora programmes to uplift the health and wellbeing of whānau Māori across the Manawatū.

Our programmes have been designed by whānau, for whānau - addressing key Māori health priorities and empowering whānau to take charge of their hauora through a mātauranga Māori lens.

Our wānanga and activities focus on a range of hauora and mātauranga Māori topics such as:

  • Tuakiritanga (Identity): Pēpēhā, Te Reo Māori, Whakapapa, Purakau

  • Rongoā Māori

  • Hauora: Health prevention screenings, Physical activity and exercise

  • Kai: Nutrition and healthy kai

  • Tamariki: Oral health

  • Kaumātua: Falls prevention

  • Supporting whānau undergoing cancer treatment

Since 2022, Whanake Rangitāne o Manawatū Trust has been delivering hauora wānanga across the Manawatū. We create safe, inclusive spaces where whānau can learn, connect, and feel supporting in managing their hauora.

Our wānanga support whānau to reclaim, restore, and strengthen their hauora, resillience, and connection to te ao Māori. We also identify and help reduce barriers that impact Māori health.

Check out our Facebook page to stay up to date with wānanga events.

Kaumātua ora

As part of our hauora programmes, we also deliver our Kaumātua ora - a programme designed to support kaumātua to live their best and healthiest lives.

In partnership with APM NZ we deliver this hauora programme to support kaumātua through:

  • Physical mobility assessments

  • Home safety assessments

  • Equipment support for homes

  • Access to kaumātua social services supports

  • Fun, physical and social activities for kaumātua.
