In 2022, a group of Rangitāne o Manawatū uri came together to look at ways of growing more cohesively as iwi. Longing to find connection and a place to belong within their rohe, they formed a group known as 'Te Kāwai Kainga o Rangitāne o Manawatū'. This whānau group was an opportunity for whānau of Rangitāne to come into an area where they were wholly accepted and to be stronger together. 

One of the aspirations of the Te Kāwai Kainga whānau was to establish a Rangitāne o Manawatū Trust. After two years of deliberation, Whanake Rangitāne o Manawatū Trust was established as a charitable trust. 

Te Kāwai Kainga remains the 'whānau arm' while Whanake Rangitāne o Manawatū Trust is the governance and operational arm. 

Whanake Rangitāne o Manawatū Trust oversees the delivery of hauora based contracts to support the health, wellbeing and growth of ngā uri o Rangitāne and the wider hapori.
